About the Training Classes

Below, you will find an explanation of the classes we offer. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us

For information on how we train or other frequently asked questions, visit our Training Philosophy page.

Obedience Training is general obedience training. It is appropriate for dogs from 4 months and older. In obedience training, you will learn the basics of training a dog, as well as an understanding of how to help your dog fit into your family pack and human life. We have mulitple levels of training for your dog, how far you and your dog go on this journey is up to you! We are the instructors of the class, but you are your dog's trainer.

Beginner Level 1 -

This is our introductory class and will cover basic information to start your journey to having a well balanced dog. In this class, we focus on helping you to understand how your dog thinks. We work with you to train your dog on foudational skills that are necessary to have a well behaved dog and allow you to teach more advanced skills. We also emphasize socialization. We show you how to work with your dog to allow him to use the skills he is learning to properly interact with people and other dogs.

Some skills we focus on in this class are:

  • Walking on a Loose Leash
  • Sit
  • Come When Called (Recall)
  • Socialization with other dogs and people
  • General behavioral issues.

Beginner Level 2 -

In level 2, we build on what we have learned in level 1. We take the skills from level 1 and add the 3 D's; Distance, Distraction, and Duration. We also add the Down skill. In level 1, your dog should have learned how to consistently perform skills like Sit and Come, as well as walking calmly on a leash. This was all done in a controlled environment. In level 2, we build on this and help your dog to perform these skills in uncontrolled environements for a longer time period and from farther away.

Additional benefits of all training classes are general exercise and socialization in new and unfamiliar environments.
